 Lee Overton
6/21/2008 at 15:06
About 90% of us live less than an hour from a navigable body of water. That means that boating is a great means of entertainment that requires just a little travel time. Believe it or not, boating can greatly reduce the amount of stress in your life as well. A National Marina Manufacturers Association survey of over 1,000 American households listed boating in the top-three of all stress-relieving activities. One of the top activities among boaters is fishing. We’ve all been told that fish is good for you. Learning how to buy a fishing boat allows you to catch your own fresh fish thus improving your health as well.

BOATS USA TOP 7 TIPS FOR BUYING USED BOATS & USED BOAT PRICES  by

 Mark P Andrews
6/21/2008 at 15:05
1. Buying a used boat reflects an affordable way to get into the world of boating at substantially lower cost over buying a new boat. More than 60% of first time boat buyers purchase used boats over new boats. If you are new to boating and you are unsure about whether to take it up as a long term interest or you have previously been a boat owner and you want to save money, buying a used boat does in fact make a lot of sense. Most boat owners do in fact look after their marine craft very well indeed and all kinds of reasons abound for why an individual or individuals witsh to sell their yacht or boat, including divorce, illness, urgent bills etc. There is no reason why you should not be able to buy a good used yacht or boat second hand that is just as good, if not better than a brand new vessel. You could indeed save an awful lot of money, many thousands of dollars in many cases.

2. Used boats can offer all of the same very high qualities you would look for in a new boat purchase. Used boat prices too are often substantially less than their new counterparts. Just as much enjoyment can be gained from a used boat compared to a new boat, certainly if it has been well looked after and cared for to a high degree. Whatever the intended purpose of your boat purchase, whether it be deep ocean ...

SPEED BOATS  by

 Manuel Wiggins
6/21/2008 at 15:05
When you go to the beach you will probably observe speed boats zooming past, and as a result many people will dream about owning one. Surprisingly enough many speed boats are actually very reasonably priced. Used small ones are very cheap and as a result many people can go boating on a hot day, even getting enough speed to water ski behind their speed boats.

These small boats though are not what people dream about; dreams are made of speed boats and yachts made by companies like Bayliner or Sunseeker.

Bayliner speed boats are normally split into three main sorts with Bowriders, Deck Boats and Cruisers. Bowriders are the smallest of the boats normally seating four people. Bowriders are fast ideal for daytrips and water sports. Deck Boats are larger versions of Bowriders and are much more family orientated forms of speed boats. They are fast enough to allow for water skiing and other forms of water sports, but are also large enough to just sunbathe on whilst doing some relaxing cruising of a river, lake or sea.

The largest sort of Bayliner speed boats is the Cruiser. The name kind of gives it away, it is a different form of a speed boat, and whilst it is still possible to undertake water sports it is actually much better designed to allow for relaxing cruising. These boats even include cabin space that means rather than just a day trip the Cruiser can be used for weekend cruising of the waterways.

Speed boats can be ...

INFLATABLE KAYAK REVIEW - THE BEST CHEAP KAYAKS  by

 Jeremy Biberdorf
6/21/2008 at 15:04
The fastest growing trend in the kayaking industry is clearly the use of inflatable kayaks. Today’s technology makes these inflatable crafts more rugged and maneuverable, while remaining lightweight and portable. Even seasoned kayakers are gradually making the switch to inflatable kayaks.

Inflatable Kayaks are Extremely Portable

If you have ever owned a hard-shell kayak, you realize how difficult it can be to transport your kayak. You have little alternative to strapping your kayak to the roof of your vehicle. Then you have to drive to a road accessible ocean, lake or river. Next you have to awkwardly carry your hard-shell kayak to the water. Hopefully the water isn’t too far from where you had to park your vehicle.

With an inflatable kayak, you simply fold the deflated kayak into a backpack and you can go anywhere. Most inflatable kayaks are less than forty pounds in weight and some are even less than thirty pounds. They also fold up very compact once deflated. Transporting them in the back of your car is no problem at all. Then think of all the mountain trails you can take your inflatable kayak to. You could easily paddle on remote lakes or rivers. Or how about taking your kayak on vacation with you? Bring it in your luggage on the plane and you could be kayaking almost anywhere in the world. That would be pretty difficult to do with a hard-shell kayak. You could take an inflatable kayak on a city bus or bicycle to the water. During ...

SAFELY LAUNCH YOUR FIXED-KEEL SAILBOAT  by

 Scott H. Stewart
6/21/2008 at 15:03
Does your sailboat have a keel that pulls up? Then consider yourself lucky. This type of boat is able to be launched just like you would a regular motorboat. But if your sailboat has a fixed keel, it will take some special procedures. Remember, safety first! With this kind of keel, the trailer has to back down to the end of the ramp to get the boat into water that is deep enough to float and be disconnected from the trailer. Your tow vehicle cannot just back it down far enough without getting submerged. So what do you do?

First of all, do you have the proper equipment to do the job safely? Your tow truck needs to be at least a mid-sized SUV or pickup truck, something fairly heavy. That weight is needed for safety. It is essential to keep all sections balanced, the truck, the trailer, and the boat.

Secondly, your tow vehicle must NOT be a front-wheel-drive type. Why? Because when the weight of the trailer presses down on the rear section of the tow vehicle, its front wheels lose traction. Some good choices of tow vehicles are rear wheel drive with manual 4-wheel drive option, all-wheel drive, or a 2-wheel drive as long as it is rear-wheel drive.

Okay, so you have the proper rear-wheel drive tow vehicle and it is ready to go! Next thing you need are safety accessories. You need a long, strong rope that is in very good condition. This will be used to let ...

MIAMI BOAT HULL AND FIBERGLASS REPAIRS  by

 Santiago Caicedo
6/21/2008 at 15:03
If you are looking to give your boat the ultimate protection, there is nothing better than the gel coat. It is used in order to keep the original surface of cars, trucks and other vehicles as good as new. Everybody has seen boats in terrible conditions. There are many boats that have been neglected for years and look like wooden carcasses. In order to make a boat look good and perform well, you need to get the help of a professional who will ensure that your boat gets the right kind of look to match its power packed performance.

Ways to make your boat look sparkling new:
The first thing required for giving the boat a great look is to determine the level of oxidation. Once you understand that, you have to put the gel coat to good use. The gel coat is the ideal thing for boat surfaces because it is much more durable than normal paint.

Another thing that you can do is use fiberglass hulls instead of the wooden variety. The fiberglass hulls are in vogue because they look better and at the same time are much stronger.

If you are bent on rejuvenating an old boat, you have to incorporate the basic changes at first. Start with the hull and then move on to the other parts.

Most hulls are made from glass reinforced plastic. However, this material enhances the levels of confusion for a layman because different individuals call this material by different names! However, if you get hold of ...

 Joshua S
6/21/2008 at 15:02
There are quite a few boat dealers in Orlando selling various types of boats. When purchasing a boat it is important to create a mental checklist of what your needs are. Will you be using it mostly for fishing? Skiing or wake boarding? Or to bring the family out for nice leisurely cruise now and again. The options are limitless and these days boats are breaking free of being classed solely into one category. These crossover boats provide the best of all worlds; be it skiing, fishing, speed, etc. When choosing the brand of boat to buy quality is key. We have presented here a list of Orlando boat dealers and the types of boats they carry. Hopefully this will provide a bit of insight and make your buying experience more informed.

When you have decided what kind of boat you might want to buy you must then determine your budget. Don’t go to any boat dealers until you know exactly what you are willing to spend - Buyers remorse is never fun. Decide if you will finance the boat or pay cash? If you decide to finance your boat, check out the various financing options in advance. The boat dealer might have financing available, but at what interest rate? A boat financing company can provide you with a quote and help you determine what you qualify for.

Now you are ready to go shop and possibly demo a few boats. Take a look at the boat dealers listed below to give ...

People with disabilities, such as vision impairment, can sail without restriction. Wheelchair users can still participate in the sport but should be more careful in their selection of sailing vessel.

SAIL BOAT - LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!  by

 Abhishek Agarwal
3/15/2008 at 09:03
Whenever you opt for buying a used item you will come across some words that give the seller the options for a better price by proving that his wares are not harshly and roughly handled by the previous owner. You should not fall for certain terms when you are looking at the option of buying a second hand sail boat. Some of the terms to beware of are "Gently worn," "previously owned," "recycled," and "reconditioned". So even when the item to be purchased is a second hand sail boat you should view it with the same options.

Some plus points of a second hand sail boat

There are some beneficial points to think about in buying a second hand sailboat. First and foremost it will cost you much less than if you were to go in for a new one. It is definitely a cheaper way to get caught up in the sailing business. You may find that the boat in question has additional features, without your having to pay for it, which you may not have found in a brand new boat. The boat that you are thinking of buying may be a unique one that is not found in the market any more and maybe just one of its kind that will not be manufactured here after.

Make a thorough check before you buy it

Do not go in for the sail boat unless you check it out thoroughly and are absolutely sure of its condition. In case you are not capable ...

BOAT PARTS - LEARNING TO REPAIR THE ECONOMICAL WAY!  by

 Abhishek Agarwal
3/15/2008 at 09:03
Those who own boats will be aware of the escalating costs of maintenance of boats, even if there is no repair work involved and just the maintenance and service to be carried out. Just the annual maintenance works out to quite a bit for a boat.

If there is repair work to be done and parts to be changed also the cost can be sky high, this is more so because labor charges are very high and you need skilled labor if you do not know how to do it yourself.

On the other hand if you learn how to go about it you will know exactly what parts need to be changed and the cost without the labor charges will come down a lot, allowing you to save a lot of money. So try and get to know how to go about the repairs and also to repair boat parts and pieces which are generally needed for a standard boat and be able to do the maintenance of your work on a budget.

Parts that need regular repair

Some of the parts have to be repaired or changed regularly. The water pump is one such part which needs attention. It is not difficult to replace the boat pump and you could do it yourself and save the labor charges which would have been quite a bit. Some helpful instructions could guide you to do it yourself, and you could either get a manual or go to the web and get complete instructions on ...

TWO AND FOUR STROKE OUTBOARD ENGINES  by

 Simon White
3/15/2008 at 09:02
Outboard engines fall into two main categories; 2 stroke and 4 stroke outboards. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages and the type you pick will depend on the intended use. This guide will help you choose which outboard engine is best for your type of boat.

2 Stroke Outboards

2 stroke engines are lighter and faster so when speed and acceleration are required, this would be the engine of choice. 2 strokes are also generally cheaper and keep their value better when it comes to resale. 2 stroke outboards have been in existence for about 80 years so spares are easily found, making repairs less troublesome. Also, the design on these engines is less complex than a 4 stroke, meaning problems are less likely to arise.

There are some disadvantages to the 2 stroke engine. 2 stroke engines are more pollutive than 4 stroke engines so they are not so kind on the environment. Their engines are lubricated by the oil that is mixed into the gasoline, meaning the exhaust is smoky and contains unburned oil, which in turn pollutes the water.

With new regulations, outboard manufacturers are looking to find new ways of producing the same power with less pollution.

Some 2 stroke outboard engine manufacturers include Mercury, Nissan, Yamaha and Evinrude.

4 Stroke Outboards

4 stroke engines are quieter, smoother and more economical. Heavier with slower acceleration, they are normally chosen for lakes and rivers. With less pollution and smoke they are also kinder to the environment. If you’re after a quieter, smoother ride, ...

WATER DAMAGE TO BIG BOATS CAUSES MAJOR PROBLEMS  by

 Dror Klar
3/15/2008 at 09:01
Boating is one of the favorite American pass times in the summer months. People buy and rent them in all shapes and sizes. They can cost as little as several hundred dollars for small aluminum boats used for fishing or rowing and as much as the millions of dollars the very rich can spend on their spacious yachts.

Other than acquiring a leak and submerging a small aluminum boat, there is very little water damage that might be done to the interior of one of these. The much more expensive house boats, cabin cruisers and yachts are a whole different thing.

When these larger boats are in good shape, they can be so enjoyable to ride up and down the water in. A lot of people go out in them all throughout the year. When they are not being taken out, they will usually always remain moored in a boat slip in a marina somewhere.

Cautious boat users need to check over their boats entirely prior to being left to remain in their boat dock, sometimes for weeks or months before they might be used again. Of course, those who have the really expensive yachts, likely engage someone to do this for them, but the average boat owners will probably do this chore themselves.

Even if the boat is free of any leaking when it is docked in the slot, some times during very strong wind and rain storms, boats might be thrown hazardously around in their slip.

This could cause them to be punctured, ...

BOAT PARTS - THE ABC’S OF PROCURING THEM  by

 Abhishek Agarwal
3/15/2008 at 09:00
A very important factor when buying boat parts is the kind of dealer that you go to. In case you are dealing with a merchant who is not reputable or trustworthy, you could be stranded in mid water because of the substandard equipment. This means loss of money and a lot of inconvenience and also a waste of time and energy. It would not be beyond ones guess that such dealers would not offer any kind of guarantee on their goods. So you will end up by replacing the parts once again and spending twice the amount of money.

In order to keep away from these kinds of problems it is always prudent to scout around, see the reputation of the company and then decide on buying the boat parts. A good business house would not like to loose out on their customers by giving them sub standard goods. So even if the parts cost you a little more it is worth your while as it will save you a lot of trouble and inconvenience also.

You could check it out with the boat dealer also, and from other owner’s of boats on the reliability of the trader. It is better not to take chances with inferior quality equipment and be put to a lot of trouble and may be discomfort. Maintain a quality regime for the purchase of your boat parts and you should not have any problems.

In mechanized automations one substandard part could also jeopardize the life of some other ...

THE IMPORTANCE OF BOAT STORAGE COVER!  by

 Abhishek Agarwal
3/15/2008 at 09:00
Where would you park your boat, when not in use? Mostly in the garage? Or in your backyard perhaps? Wherever you put your boat away, it is important that it is in a perfect condition for your next boating experience. Because, no matter how closed your place is dust, moisture and various other things in the air can cause lot of damages to your boat. It is, therefore, important that you fully cover your boat with Boat Storage Covers, when not in use.

Besides the conditions of the storage place rains, snow, storm and hot sun too have their effect on the boat. The hot sun can wear the seats, and pale the paint of your boat. Rain and snow cause dew and water droplets to form at various places of your boat, leading to water entering your engine. All these could do a lot of damage to your boat.

Using boat storage covers to keep your boat covered helps you even if you keep your boat outdoors. Boats are generally made of fiber glass or aluminium. There are lot of elements in the air that can cause the paint to peel, excessive dust and mud particles that can abrate your shining surface, moisture and dust entering the exhaust etc. These could affect the good condition of you boat, if left uncovered. You may need to take time and spend a lot of money in putting your boat in order each time you intend to go boating.

Boat storage covers are available in ...
